The Ried Wechselberg single vineyard produces Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC wines that impress with pronounced spice, a dense texture and mineral elegance. Ripe fruit aromas—from yellow apple to delicate stone fruit—combine with a powerful structure and a long finish. On the palate it is full-bodied yet remains precise and clear. A wine with excellent aging potential that gains complexity over time and pairs beautifully with hearty dishes.

Single Vineyards & Soils

The imposing Ried Wechselberg single vineyard rises on the eastern side of the Strassertal and faces south. Its soils are weathered crystalline bedrock of the Bohemian Massif and crystalline schist. Thanks to its elevation, the nights bring a cooling of the hot summer air, ensuring excellent development of aromatic compounds in the grapes.

Harvest date: September 24 at 19.3° KMW.

Yield:40 hl per hectare

Winemaking

Five hours of maceration, cool fermentation and maturation in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on the full lees until bottling in March.

Delicately scented classic with elegant spice, minty-peppery coolness and ripe stone fruit; juicy on the palate, threaded with fine minerality, perfectly balanced, mouth-filling, with a lovely punch on the finish. Pairs wonderfully with spicy fish dishes.
