From the vineyard to the bottle – how a year at the winery unfolds

From the vineyard to the bottle – how a year at the winery unfolds

A wine doesn’t come into being in a single day – nor does it live only in the cellar. Behind every bottle stands an entire year of work, shaped by observation, decisions and many small tasks. The cycle repeats annually, yet no year is like any other.

Spring: Observation and Preparation

With bud break, the new wine year begins. Now it becomes clear how well the vines have weathered the winter. In the vineyard, the aim is to guide the vines, steer them and prepare them for healthy growth. The focus is on attentiveness: weather, soil and plant development set the rhythm.

Summer: Care and Patience

During the summer months, a lot of manual work is required. Leaf management, thinning and targeted interventions help create a balance between growth and grape ripening. At the same time, patience is needed – not everything can be controlled; much must be observed and decided at the right moment.

Autumn: The Harvest

The harvest is the moment when a year’s work comes together. The right timing is crucial and depends on ripeness, weather and the condition of the grapes. The grapes are picked, carefully processed and brought to the cellar. Now a new chapter in the wine’s life begins.

In the cellar: Maturation with Restraint

After the harvest follows the phase in which the wine is allowed to develop. In the cellar, the aim is to support the process, not to dominate it. Fermentation, maturation and refinement require time and calm. Decisions are made deliberately to preserve the wine’s structure, character and origin.

Bottling: The Final Step

At the end of the cycle comes bottling. It marks the transition from the work process to the finished wine. What is in the bottle now reflects the past year – the vineyard conditions as well as the decisions made in the cellar.

A Cycle That Never Stops

No sooner is one year completed than the next begins. The vineyard knows no pause, and every vintage brings new challenges. That’s precisely what excites us: wine is born from the interplay of experience, attentiveness and time.
